Lucien has over 15 years of guitar instruction experience and was awarded his B.M. in Composition from San Jose State University and a M.A. in Composition from San Francisco State University. Lucien headed the composition program at the School of the Arts in San Francisco and has taught Counterpoint at SFSU, as well been an Associate Professor in Orchestration, Advanced Counterpoint and 20th Century Composition Techniques at the University.

Lucien has performed as a guitarist with bassist Myron Dove of Carlos Santana, former Doobie Brother saxophonist Danny Hull, and former Dizzy Gillespie guitarist Pascal Bokar. He has had the privilege of being an opening act for Chaka Khan, Ziggy Marley, Don Carlos, Wadi Gad, The Temptations, The O’Jays and The Whispers. As a composer, he has worked with members of the Alexander String Quartet and has written articles for and was copyist to the violinist Midori.

Whether you are a beginning guitarist or have years of playing experience, take your playing to the next level and have fun learning. All styles, ages and levels of experience welcome.

BIOGRAPHY: Emily Robinson has been singing and performing for 25 years. She studied Voice at the University of Washington and Cornell University under Carmen Pelton and Judith Kellock, both students of reknowned singer and teacher Jan DeGaetani. She has over 15 years of private lessons under her belt and has studied locally with Elizabeth Moore and Davida Kagen. She currently performs with Puget Sound Concert Opera, the Seattle Gilbert & Sullivan Society, and the Dickens Carolers. She has worked as a Cantor/Section Leader at St. Mark's Catholic Church in Shoreline, and currently works at the Church of the Ascension in Magnolia.

LESSONS: Lessons will emphasize:

--The development of strong vocal technique and good singing habits, including support, volume & projection, stamina, and vocal health

--Diction & proper pronunciation

--Musicianship, interpretation & expression

--Stage presence & performance skills

--Handling the emotional challenges of being a singer

Basic sightsinging, eartraining and language pronunciation skills can be taught if desired.

Although my training is in classical technique I love all kinds of music and will be happy to work with your preferred vocal style. I have only basic keyboard skills so do not expect a professional level of accompaniment. :)
