Musical Styles from around the WORLD performed on a 7 1/2 foot long Honduras Rosewood Marimba!

Using live percussion and electronics, Ed creates a ONE-MAN-BAND featuring Caribbean Calypso, African Marimba, Brazilian Sambas, Mexican and Spanish Tangos, and Swing Jazz styles. If you want a mix of Tiny Bubbles, Spanish Eyes, Harry Belafonte, Xavier Cugat and Lionel Hampton, this is for you!


Ed Hartman:
Ed Hartman has recorded and performed with numerous bands, orchestras, dance and theatre companies including: Eric Tingstad and Nancy Rumbel, Tickle Tune Typhoon, and Ellipsis. In the Northwest, he has become a top freelance percussionist and recording artist. As a soloist, Ed has performed at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall in NYC.
Originally from Chicago, Ed received his degree in percussion from Indiana University. Ed Hartman has written articles, sheet music and books about music for Olympic Publications, and C. Alan Publications. His albums "The River", and "Northwest Passage", have received national critical acclaim. "Marimbells of Christmas" has been heard on television, "Twas the Night" (HBO) and "Passions", (NBC), and in the motion pictures, "Surviving Christmas" (Dreamworks), and "Mini's First Time" (Arclight Films). He has scored music for T.V., radio, and even a planetarium. Ed is currently touring nationally as a YAMAHA performing artist and clinician. Ed also endorses Mike Balter mallets.



Instrumentation:
Marimba with Percussion (Shakers, Cowbells, Hand Percussion) and Electronics. Using a digital delay, Ed is able to create a ONE-MAN BAND!

Also available:

The Olympic Marimba Band for larger events. (3-6pc with keyboards, drums, bass, guitar, flute/sax/clarinet/trumpet)
Ed Hartman, Solo Vibes (Vibraphone) or as a duo with bass. The vibes are similar to the marimba, but is smaller (5ft long) and have metal bars. Musically, it's jazzier.

Founded in 2004 by singer-song writer Sammy Torres, Salsariba is an experienced all-star group of locally based artists bringing exciting dance beats to salsa music.

Sammy, who grew up surrounded by Salsa and other Latin Rhythms in Peru, learned to sing from his mother. A former Bolero singer, she lit the flame for the fire of passion that Sammy has for music. At age 18, Sammy began performing professionally in New York and has been at it ever since.

While in New York Sammy worked with artists such as Julio Barreto, Antonio Cartagena, and Juan Canevello. He played with bands Combo Ocho and Chimpum York, as well as being the founder of Los Peloteros del Swing.

Salsariba's inspiration comes from this unique musical background and everyday life. By combining the many styles of Latin music with new styles of rhythm and themes to well known and original salsa songs, Salsariba brings a fresh and unique sound to the Seattle Salsa Scene.
