Event Co-Ordinators and Promoters Needed
TBR Studios Presents: The Battle for America A National Battle of the Bands Event We are now seeking EVENT Co-Ordinators & Promoters If you have ever wanted to promote musical events such as concerts or local music shows, this is your chance to learn the ropes and get paid to do it. No experience needed, just enthusiasm and a desire to succeed. We have now completed two annual events in Texas (The Battle for Texas - Houston Regionals). SEE BLOG on www.myspace.com/battleforamerica home page. We are about to roll out into other major Texas cities as well as expand nationwide for the 2010 event. We need co-ordinators to accomplish this. I will personally carry out Texas cities unless I find Co-Ordinators in the other cities such as Dallas, Ft. Worth, San Antonio, etc. I think you get the idea! We need Co-Ordinators in every state to run the 1 Day events in their major home city and you have the option to take your local city event to every major city in your state. This is similar to a street team concept for a band, except you get paid for your efforts and are part of a national event. There are no fees for you to sign up as a co-ordinator and join the project. I have all the tools (Registration & Waiver Forms, graphics, etc.) & experience you need to make your event work in your city. Both of our events in Houston were started and successfully completed in 30-45 days from the date of event conception. All you need is the will to take on the event and make some cash in the process. ie: If you find a venue for the event in your city by January 1st, your event should be completed by Jan 31st or mid Feb. at the latest. Then you can do it again later in the year or move to another city. This is perfect for Recording Studio owners, Graphic Artists that work with bands, Music Store owners, full/part time musicians, entrepreneurs and even Club owners. It's a great way to network your business, studio or band and be part of a national event at the same time. Your function as an Event Co-Ordinator for The Battle for America: 1) Secure Venue and Date of the event 2) Secure local sponsors (Recording Studios, Music Stores, Graphic Artists, etc) 3) Secure Bands to Compete (I'll show you how) 4) Promote the event locally along with competing bands 5) Secure 3 Event Judges (usually from the sponsors) 6) Host Event (emcee) and hand out local awards at completion of the days events. If you live in Atlanta, for example, your event will be called: The Battle for Georgia - Atlanta Regionals Your event will have a MySpace page tied to this Battle for America page. If you own a recording studio, for example, you will have a banner such as mine: "TBR Studios Presents" I think you get the idea. For more info on how to become an event co-ordinator, contact me by my studio phone, home phone or email below (or this page) anytime days or eves. Ask for "Luckee". See you in the Battlefield!!! Thanks, Luckee The Battle for America: "A National Battle of the Bands Event" c/o TBR Studios 18429 Hwy 105 Cleveland, TX 77328 Studio/Cell: 281-659-6714 Home: 281-432-2312 The Battle for America: www.myspace.com/battleforamerica E-Mail: Battle4America@hotmail.com or battleforamerica@myspace.com Hosted By: TBR Studios www.myspace.com/txbackroads E-Mail: txbackroads@hotmail.com • Location: National

We are an organic, experimental rock band, seeking a keyboardist/soundscape artist, who will use atmospheres, samples and loops to augment and bolster our music, as well as creating harsh sounds with the keyboard. You would be working alongside me to find and contribute source material via field recordings and sampled sounds from ordinary life, manipulated to produce new and odd sounds to weave into, out of, and around the music. An avant-garde/industrial background is appreciated, but not entirely necessary. A willingness to adapt and learn works best. • Location: Seattle

We're a dual tribute covering both groups. Here's a live recording from Wednesday at the Hi Fi club (Cleveland, Ohio).
http://rhzenvironmental.com/flightathifi.mp3 It should give some idea as to how we are live, and how well it goes over. We're new to this, and want to do it right. We're happy to be playing this stuff and our goal is to be able to do shows anywhere and everywhere there are fans of these incredible bands. Any advice on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. This group has a stable lineup that's been together for a few years. Some of us are former members of Eddy's Revenge (the Iron Maiden tribute). • Location: Ohio

Wanted: Drummer, Bassist, Guitarist, Vocals for 80's Cover bandposted: November 3, 2009, 10:57 AM

We are trying to put together a startup project for 80's rock and pop covers. We are looking for dedicated people who would be willing to commit to the right situation. We need strong vocalists, a great drummer (who can potentially play to a click), a bassist, and possibly another guitarist. We have seasoned keyboards and guitar.
Goals include playing live - hopefully casinos and private parties, but also other types of gigs (we all have to start somewhere). Looking for good musicians, self-starters to help create a tight, professional show band with strong harmonies. Would like to find people who can all bring something to the table - i.e. musicians who can also sing, maybe some connections to getting gigs, practice space, PA, lights or whatever. We have home recording studio for demos and web/promo pack design abilities. Must have reliable transportation and motivation. We need people we can count on here. Please, only serious inquiries. Let's not waste each other's time. Demos appreciated. Email: icomeinvaluepacksof10@yahoo.com Interested in covering bands such as Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, Rick Springfield, Cheap Trick, Greg Kihn, Foreigner, Bruce Springsteen, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Toto, Journey, Hall and Oates, Huey Lewis, The Cars, Tommy Tutone, The Knack, The Police, Marshall Crenshaw, The Romantics, The Cure, and many others. • Location: South Sound

Bass player with RAT pedal and attitude wantedposted: November 2, 2009, 05:31 PM

Do you like noise rock? Do you have a killer bass tone? Do you laugh maniacally when you stomp on your RAT pedal and the sheer heaviness of your bass riff-ery causes stomachs to prolapse? Do you scoff at the idea that a bass player sits on root notes and has to stand at the back by the drummer? Do you like bands such as The Jesus Lizard, Young Widows, Shellac, Fugazi, Chavez, Tar, Drive Like Jehu, Hoover or Polvo?
If so, can we be friends and start a band? Or can I join yours? I have a small stack of MP3s I can send, so you know exactly what kind of trouble you'll be getting into. About me: I moved to Seattle a few months ago from Texas. I'm a 29 year old guitarist with an ear for the discordant, the aggressive and the melodic - I like to write cacophonous songs with hooks. I try to avoid conventional pentatonic chord structures and concentrate more on a combination of atmospheric picking and accompaniment to the drums and that sweet, heavy bass and heavy blow-your-frigging-ears out riffing. Like a combination of Duane Denison and Josh Homme. Shoot me an e-mail if you'd like to hear some of the stuff I've worked on in the past and then let's go from there. Do you have mp3s too? Excellent. • Location: Seattle

Keyboardist looking to join or help form 80's cover bandposted: November 1, 2009, 11:32 AM

Keyboardist here. Would like to be part of an 80's cover band. Interested in working with the "right" people - people who are reliable and easy to get along with. I don't really want to "run the show" or take on the primary "leadership" role -- been there and done that, and it's a big pain in the ass. However, I will be an active participant and full-on team player in a situation where everyone is motivated, dedicated and willing to see it through. Personalities and chemistry is important to me.
I have pro gear, good ability, and I can bring a cool technological element to the table (sequencing, soundscaping, etc.). I have reliable transportation, and I will travel a little bit for the right situation. I have a home recording/project studio setup, demo production abilities, and I also bring some promo elements to the table as well (i.e. web design, writing, etc.). Would like to find people with some connections to getting gigs, practice space and PA (I don't really have these things). Interested in talking with guitarists, drummers, vocalists, bassists who have a sincere desire to do something similar. Email: icomeinvaluepacksof10@yahoo.com Please, only serious inquiries. Let's not waste each other's time. Not interested in butt rock. Would like to cover bands like Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, Duran Duran, Bryan Adams, Phil Collins, Genesis, Peter Gabriel, Toto, Journey, Hall and Oates, Huey Lewis, The Cure, among others. Open to female vocals too. • Location: South sound

“Everyone knows MODES but me!” --are you an advanced guitar player?posted: October 19, 2009, 10:37 AM

Guitar players refer to playing modes all the time. Are you thinking, “I do not have the time to learn music theory-I just want to play?”
Well, I developed a Method that allows you to play in Locrian, Dorian or Ionian and four other modes by only learning one fingering pattern. Yes, only one--and you may already know it. I will tell you how to move it around the neck so that you can get the correct notes of all seven modes of the major scale in any key, instantly. Play Mixolydian, Lydian, Aeolian and Phrygian in moments and you don’t have to learn music theory to do it.. Most players will disregard this thinking it cannot be that simple. Well I am here to tell you that it really is! I have been playing guitar using this approach since 1986 when I copyrighted this Modes Method. I can prove it to you at NO RISK to you. Write back for more info. Only $10.00 and the postage is prepaid. Not a scam and I can prove it. http://www.modesmethod.mysite.com/cgi-bin/blog From Modes Method users: Thank you very much! I've been playing for 40 years pretty much in the rock and roll and blues vein. Ive always wanted to learn the modes, but frankly my playing was at least to me, decent enough to have been in a few relatively "successful" local bar bands, as a lead guitarist, but Ive always known that something was lacking, and knowing modes was one of them. I am 52 years old, and my playing has become stagnant. When I saw your posting on Craigslist I was intrigued. I have a Boss looper and Ive started to do what was suggested in your tutorial, by just playing these patterns over an A minor, and a couple of other keys, and yes, it absolutely does work. As I am self taught, I have never learned proper theory, and this shortcut will help immensely. Thanks again for the extra help. I will study this, as time permits. I just needed a little clarification in order to make sure that I was heading in the right direction. Your method is so simple, that I thought I had to be missing something. Peace, Bob thanks, got this yesterday. It is definitely…beautiful in its simplicity. Thanks again, Steve. Hi Dan. I finally got a chance to look at your method. How simple you make it…I'm really getting in to the modes. Your tips are very helpful! Thanks Matt • Location: Seattle
