Stoppard's smart, witty and gleeful word-play combines a language thought experiment with repression of art in Czechoslovakia to illuminate the power of language. In Dogg's Hamlet, English schoolboys speaking "Dogg" (a mixed-up language comprised of English words with different meanings) befuddle a delivery man as they rehearse for Hamlet. In Cahoot's Macbeth, renegade actors in cold-war Czechoslovakia continue a private performance of Macbeth under the eyes of a menacing police inspector.
