This position provides imaginative, practical, and thorough technical design support for new product development and ongoing production. This person supports cross functional teams to develop new communications system devices for commercial and residential uses.

Essential Functions:
  • Supports project teams including new product design, cost reduction efforts, testing and validation, and documentation development.
  • Performs verification and validation tests and analysis to specific, detailed requirements.
  • Prepares test reports and test procedures.
  • Creates and maintains document packages and specifications including 3-D models, 2-D drawings, and engineering change orders.
  • Maintains the mechanical engineering lab and equipment, including acquisition and setup of new equipment.
  • Operates, maintains, and coordinates 3D printers for the engineering department.
  • Fabricates and evaluates prototypes, models, and fixtures for new or improved products.

  • Skills and abilities:
    • A creative individual with the ability to work in a team environment.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and vendors.
    • Ability to fabricate prototypes, models, and fixtures via; basic machining processes (manual mill, lathe, grinder, drill press), metal forming, hand tools and 3D prototyping processes.
    • 3D CAD experience in solid modeling and drafting.

    Education and Experience:
    • Associate Degree (A.A.) or equivalent with a technical/engineering focus from a two-year college or technical school.
    • 2 years of experience in an engineering product development environment.
    • Fiber optic cable assembly, termination, and testing experience preferred.
