Amazon continuously provides customers with new ways to shop including Subscribe and Save, Prime Pantry and Amazon Fresh, and with the rapid growth of these formats, we need to automate the daily decisions regarding selection and format management. This service will optimize both the customer experience and category economics by ensuring that we have the best assortment for our customers wherever they shop across the Amazon site. This is a rare opportunity to be part of a team that will be responsible for building a successful, sustainable and strategic platform for Amazon from the ground up. Major responsibilities Work closely with the business to understand the problem space, identify the opportunities and formulate the problems Use machine learning, data mining, statistical techniques and others to create actionable, meaningful, and scalable solutions for the business problems Analyze and extract relevant information from large amounts of AmazonA?s historical business data to help automate and optimize key processes Design, develop and evaluate highly innovative models for predictive learning Interact with software engineering teams to build data platforms for large:scale data analysis and modeling Establish scalable, efficient, automated processes for large scale data analyses, model development, model validation and model implementation Research and implement novel machine learning and statistical approachesTo learn more about Profit Systems, visit our page at MS (PhD preferred) in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or in another highly quantitative field 2+ years of hands:on experience in predictive modeling and analysis Ability to distill problem definitions, models and constraints from informal business requirements, and to deal with ambiguity and competing objectives Skills with Java, C++ (or other high:level programming language) as well as Python (or similar scripting language) Experience in using R, MATLAB or other statistical software Communication and data presentation skills A natural curiosity and desire to learn PhD in Machine Learning, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics or in another highly quantitative field Experience handling gigabyte and terabyte size datasets Experience in developing solutions for real:world applications Knowledge of relational databases (SQL) Experience working with distributed systems Strong communication and data presentation skills
