POSITION SUMMARY
The ARNP provides diagnostic, preventative and therapeutic psychiatric services to patients in a community mental health setting under the guidance of a board certified psychiatrist.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assess, diagnose, plan, implement and evaluate psychiatric care for those receiving mental health services.
Notify psychiatrist regarding unusual or unexpected events or problems requiring direct consultation.
Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and County laws, regulations and guidelines by performing timely, accurate, and concise documentation of patient care.
Collaborate and conduct case conferences with other mental health professionals to identify patient care needs, implement approaches, and evaluate the effectiveness of approaches.
Prescribe, direct and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or medications in treating mental, emotional or behavioral disorders.
Inspect and conduct inventory of the medication storage to ensure that all medications are kept in locked cabinets and disposed of when outdated in accordance with regulations of the state board of pharmacy.
Provide crisis intervention and management related to supportive care services.
Coordinate and advise all applicable parties regarding patient discharge or transfer.
Complete clinical documentation such as psychiatric evaluations and progress notes on a timely manner.
Employee may be required to perform other related duties to meet patient, program, or client needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Candidate must have an active Washington license; RN and Psychiatric ARNP
Must have an active Washington State controlled substance certificate
Master’s degree from an accredited college or university
Specialized certification required
2 years experience in providing psychiatric / mental health care to mentally ill individuals and prescriptive authority.
Communicates respectfully and with dignity with clients, families, visitors and coworkers by greeting them and answering or directing their questions.
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, memos, business correspondence and all other integrated behavioral health related documents. Ability to write clear, concise and accurate correspondence. Capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships with a broad range of people. Effective oral and written communication skills.

OTHER SKILLS REQUIRED:

Ability to operate computer, printer, copy and fax machines, calculator, and other office equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by staff member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, move up and down stairways, talk and hear, drive to and from community appointments. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

MENTAL DEMANDS:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where standardization may or may not exist.
Ability to reason effectively and interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
This position requires the individual to work with minimal supervision. Guidance is available as necessary, however, the individual is expected to be able to function autonomously and make individual decisions when appropriate. Position does require ability to interact with a variety of individuals and the ability to meet deadlines and time pressure based on the volume of work.
