Vashon Island Rowing Club is seeking an individual to coach our Youth Novice and Junior Varsity program, consisting of approximately 10 to 15 athletes.
The Vashon Island Rowing club is located on Vashon Island, a short ferry ride from either Seattle, Southworth or Tacoma. Our club has a reputation of success, both in the Pacific Northwest and nationally..
Requirements and Qualifications
Applicants must be over 19 years of age. They must also be available for all practices and competitions from 3 - 5p.m. daily during their coaching season with availability on weekends as required. Experience rowing or coaching crew at the club, high school or college level is strongly preferred, but not required. Additionally, candidates must satisfactorily complete a criminal background check and must obtain First Aid, CPR, and boater certifications.
Compensation and Benefits
We offer a stipend schedule that compares favorably with those of peer clubs. Coaching stipends are paid in monthly installments during the primary competition season. Assistant coach must be able to work as part of a two person coaching team, while being able to direct athletes within the JV/Novice program. Assistant coach will be provided a career development plan by VIRC’s head coach with 30 years of experience, including Olympics and all levels of FISA World Championships.
