Come and be a part of the R and D team that will contribute to Concur/SAP's core applications. With a customer base over 30 million customers with year:over:year growth exceeding 50 our services are key components of Concur's product delivery and aggressive growth.
In the first 12 months you will:
Ship: (several iterations, in fact). The most import thing that our team can do for the company is to ship production software. Aside from adding direct value to our customers, it is also the ultimate validation of our research efforts.
Learn: We move fast and are unafraid to venture into the unknown if it can improve our software or the way in which we deliver that software. As a result, we are constantly learning new technologies and new approaches.
Lead: Everyone must be constantly learning and must be constantly teaching others on the team. This can come in the form of code reviews, one on one pairing sessions, group teaching sessions, and more. More broadly, you will be a part of the team that is helping to lead the rest of the company to a new architectural paradigm with a new set of technologies and a new set of approaches.
In order to accomplish this you will need:
Background in leading software development teams to deliver large:scale, online services
A strong understanding of distributed, UNIX:based systems, ideally on a public cloud platform like Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Strong analytical and design skills : you should be able to think about problems broadly and deeply. From the technology perspective, you should be able to design a system from subnets to algorithms.
A "maker's mind". Everything we do is about building and shipping software.
A high degree of intellectual curiosity and a lack of fear for learning something new. You should be open to learn from others and also willing to help mentor and teach.
A passion for new and emerging technology. Our current stack includes Java, Spring, CoreOS, Couchbase, Docker witj Kubernetes, AWS services such as DynamoDB, SQS, S3 and EC2. Our future stack can evolve to anything : it will be up to you to helps us chart that course.
Passion for learning quickly through instrumentation using tools like Kibana, NewRelic etc.
What do you need to bring?
3+ years of experience managing software development teams
Experience developing global Web services that can scale to millions of users
10+ years of experience delivering successful software development projects
BSCS, BSEE, or equivalent years of work experience
