Kenworth is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join the Outerbody Engineering Design Group. In the Outerbody group, you will be working specifically on the hoods, bumpers, chassis fairings and aerodynamic devises. As part of the Outerbody team you will be working on aerodynamic and product enhancements, warranty and cost reduction projects that add to the overall profitability of the organizations. The ideal candidate should have a willingness to grow personally and professionally, while maintaining a strong drive for results and seeking to be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
:Aerodynamic product enhancements, warranty and cost reduction projects that add to the overall profitability of the organization.
:Participate in and /or lead the design and development of structures:based projects in the Core Outer Body Engineering Group.
:Utilize Creo Parametric to create optimized part and assembly models of moderate to complex designs requiring independent judgment.
:Work closely with the Styling groups in the development of new or updated vehicle exteriors.
:Work with the PACCAR Technical Center and external organizations to validate the designs through.
:Finite Element Analysis and Computation Fluid Dynamics.
:Utilize PACCAR and industry systems to manage the product implementation process, track costs, and support new product introductions.
:Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
:Travel up to 10.
Qualifications and Skills
:BSME required; Masters degree and P.E. certificate desirable.
:3+ years industry:related background in the design and specification of heavy:duty trucks.
:Knowledge of Pro/E or other solids modeling software required.
:Working knowledge of sheet metal, composite panels, and polymers/elastomers and their manufacturing processes a plus.
:Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
:Competency in the use of personal computer software including project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
:Solid understanding in use of Design for Six Sigma and Six Sigma techniques.
:Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques and be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
:Past experience in product development and new product implementation necessary.
:Ability to work in a team environment.
:Candidates should have a willingness to grow personally and professionally and results oriented.
