Core Functions: · Assist passengers or effectively communicate passenger requests to other departments, and resolve passenger issues promptly with a positive outcome;
Ability to multi-task and pay close attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment;
· Must be able to give and receive verbal communication in person and over portable radios;
Inspect and verify passenger documentation, identification documents, etc.
Check all facility/terminal doors, fences, and gates to ensure they are secure and pose no security or safety threat;
· Open, monitor, and close doors, fences or gates as needed; · Some jobs may require the use of hand-wands and/or X-Ray screening machines. · Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents. · Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. · Relieve other team members as needed; · Must be able to adhere to company uniform policy; · Must be able to work variable hours, flexible shifts which may include some holidays and weekends; Language Skills:
Ability to clearly read, write, and speak English fluently;
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret important cruise related documents and identification;
Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from clients, guest, employees, and management team.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions;
Ability to make independent and good judgment decisions within proper policy and procedure.
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements:
Requires the ability to frequently walk to employee work areas and other work areas;
Requires the ability to push, pull, carry, and lift up to 15lbs;
Must be able to sit and stand for long periods of time, and work both indoors and outdoors may be requested.
All positions require to stand on post anywhere between 1 to 4 hours at a time.
Use of sight, including viewing computer monitors or camera monitors for periods of time;
Requires close vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus;
All jobs require use of hand-held radios.
Requires the ability to work in a work environment where there is moderate to extreme noise;
Traffic Officers may perform duties in busy city streets and on the cruise terminal.
Qualifications and Competencies:
High School diploma or GED equivalent;
Passionate about customer service and must have relevant work experience;
Additional languages desirable;
Commitment to continuous improvement;
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to stay calm under pressure;
Self-motivated and able to work independently;
Attentive to detail and numerate;
Ability to follow processes and procedures and apply flexible approach when required;
Ability to pass a state and federal background check;
Must be able to obtain TWIC Card;
Must be able to obtain/maintain a valid Washington DOL Security Guard License ("Guard Card"),
May be required to get Washington State Flagger certification;
This position is full time seasonal
Rate of pay ranges from $16.43 to $17.00
