Sr. Engineer (Software), Device Technology Analytics

Position Summary

The Device Intelligence and Analytics team within the Device Technology Team is looking for a versatile Sr. software engineer to develop end-to-end big data applications for internal customers. The team is responsible for providing big data metrics and analytics to better design and optimize network-device interoperability. The team has full ownership of crowd-sourced device handset data related to network technology and manages the entire data pipeline (collection, delivery, QA, ETL, aggregation, and display).

The Sr. Engineer will thrive in a multi-function start-up environment while working closely with a tight-knit team of data scientists and systems engineers. The Sr. Engineer will be responsible to deliver services at each stage in the pipeline applications may include back-end services including Data Base Management and KPI Processing as well as UI-based tools or reporting systems for senior management. * Design and Develop modular algorithms to refine large numbers of events into performance metrics

* Support data scientists to develop scalable analytics and/or machine learning applications

* Understand end-user requirements and translate them into self-contained full-stack products

* Provide operational support for deployed services

* Provision infrastructure as required, both in-cloud and on-premises

* Administrate and secure running instances in accordance with organizational policy

* Work with data engineering vendors to ensure appropriate availability and reliability of end-to-end data services

* Implement unit tests for components; Facilitate automation of regression tests and integration tests



* Experience with relational and non-relational data bases (e.g., MySQL, MongoDB, Cassandra)

* Demonstrated familiarity with AWS services including, but not limited to:

Simple Storage Service (S3), Lambda, Elastic Cloud Compute (EC2)

* Knowledge of web interfaces and data structures (REST, SOAP, HTTPS, JSON)

* Can deploy fully containerized, platform-agnostic applications (Docker, Kubernetes)

* Familiarity with agile development workflows

* Configuration management code experience (using, e.g., Chef, CloudFormation, Puppet)

* Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment


* Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Mathematics or another STEM discipline.

* 5 years of Full-Stack professional software development experience

* 1 year of RHEL/Linux administration preferred; or equivalent certification

* Advanced knowledge of 2 modern general purpose languages (e.g., Java, Python, Ruby)

* Telecom experience desired

* Experience with MapReduce a plus

* Able to gather requirements from internal customers independently

* Demand for data quality and consistency
