Do you want to build state-of-the-art software that could create a new Amazon pillar for the next 20 years? Do you want to use your skill and imagination to think big and create a lasting impact in the world?

Our team is looking for a software development engineer to architect a set of products whose long-term goal is to collect and organize ideas proposed by people both inside and outside of the company. This is a high-profile position: as a software developer in the Amazon Department of Ideas, you will be responsible for the front-end and back-end for the worldwide Amazon Think BIG Competition, Amazon Catalyst Fund, and several other related programs.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in user experience and design, matched with a passion for data science and especially machine learning. One of the coolest parts of this position is that you'll be building new software and algorithms whose long-term goal is to identify long-term technology trends and make non-obvious correlations between business and technology across the entire company.

You will identify and initiate investigations of new technologies, prototype and test solutions for product features, and design and validate products that deliver an exceptional user experience. You will take responsibility for technical problem solving, meet product objectives, hire engineering teams, and develop best practices. This is a position for a driven, and passionate visionary with a commitment to teamwork, who enjoys working on complex software systems, and thrives on the challenge of prototyping new systems that will eventually operate at a worldwide scale.
