eCommerce Services (eCS) powers all of Amazons businesses, providing foundational ecommerce products and services from customer identity to order processing to accounting. We are a global, cross:functional group, where technical leaders can grow their careers and deliver innovation for our customers. We have a new program known as eCS Academy that creates and delivers deep technical training on eCS systems to internal Amazon developers. The goal of the program is to provide lower long:term software maintenance costs, more efficient use of developer resources and a more rewarding experience for developers. Our curriculum writers are responsible for developing accurate, intuitive course content. They also have opportunities to design and own courses end:to:end and to contribute to public:facing documentation sets. We are looking for an exceptional writer with a penchant for creating instructional materials to own, coordinate, and develop technical training content for AmazonA?s engineers. To succeed in this role, you will help drive the vision, design, develop and manage the content, and evaluate the impact of technical training and documentation for a global engineering audience. Core ResponsibilitiesCreate accurate, consistent, and engaging classroom and online course materialsCollaborate closely with curriculum designers to meet a quality threshold and delivery timelinesDesign and develop training materials in line with eCS Academy standards and guidelinesWork with subject matter experts to research and develop technical training materialCreate partnerships with internal stakeholders to identify and leverage existing sources of informationSet up training programs on LMS and manage learnerA?s accessTrack and report learners progressBachelors Degree in English, Computer Science, or related field5+ years of experience writing and architecting documentation, for a variety of audiences, including developer audiencesExperience working on cross:functional teamsProven ability to translate written code or architecture flow diagram into user documentationDemonstrated project management experienceBasic understanding of Java or object:oriented programming conceptsStrong attention to detail and obsessive about technical accuracyExperience using a consistent writing style and voice from a user:centered perspectiveExperience using LMS to manage trainingProficiency in FrameMaker/XML Editor (DITA:based authoring), Word, PowerPoint, Captivate, Storyline, and SnagIt.Experience following a defined style guide for consistent writing style2+ years of experience on technical training teamsBackground in information architectureAbility to identify opportunities to improve content development processes and tools, and drive team improvementsExcellent interpersonal skills, initiative and problem:resolution skillsExperience creating technical content with visual elementsExperience working with global stakeholders on complex changesSound business judgment and the ability to make quick decisions under pressure in ambiguous circumstances, balancing advocacy with a need for actionExperience using screencasts and other media to support documentationProficiency in PhotoShop and InDesign is an added advantage
