Robert Half Technology is looking for an IT Field Engineer to work 20 hours a week for a client in Seattle. This candidate will be responsible for providing direct on-premise IT support and services. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES Install, support and maintain desktop hardware and software Recognize situations requiring a service call escalation and follows proper escalation procedures Support applications and ancillary third-party software Install, support, and maintain IT infrastructure Maintain all controlled areas at customers facilities, including datacenters, computer rooms, and communications closets Abide by all service level agreements and change management and compliance processes Produce appropriate documentation for all relevant activities Maintain work areas in a clean and organized manner. Read and adhere to all company guidelines and policies REQUIREMENTS Skills: This job requires flexibility, the ability to adapt to rapid changes, and the ability to multitask, all in a dynamic industrial environment. There is a significant amount of direct interaction with a wide variety of people, so excellent interpersonal and communication skills are a must. Excellent troubleshooting skills are also required. Education: A two year degree or equivalent technical education is required. Knowledge: A solid knowledge of Microsoft Windows desktop operating systems, Microsoft Office suite of products, desktop hardware, local-area and wireless networks, and IT infrastructure such as Cat5/6 and fiber cabling. Experience: A minimum of two years working experience in an IT service support role. Experience in the transportation or logistics industry is a plus. Physical Demands: This is field position requiring outdoor work as well as desk work and some light lifting. The shift is 6pm - 3am Monday - Friday. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES Review performance and error logs daily for supported applications Monitor and respond to automated alerts Provide customer support for issues escalated through the Service Desk Respond to direct customer support requests Perform wireless network surveys Perform hardware installations Repair and maintain vehicle-mounted computers and handheld mobile devices Provide local onsite support during hardware and software releases If you are interested in hearing more about this opportunity, please send your resume to Jennifer.Clowdsley@rht.com for immediate consideration.
