ULI Northwest is looking for an Associate to join our small team of energetic professionals. Our work group is the productive force behind an array of programs and initiatives in real estate development and land use in the Pacific Northwest.
The Associate is the "hub" of ULI Northwest, providing project and administrative support while juggling a variety of tasks. Just like a nimble plate spinner, the strongest candidate will be highly organized, energetic, able to multi-task effectively, and do it all with a smile. In addition, the Associate must be self-driven and able to work independently in a fast-paced and fluid work environment.
Be the first point of contact for the District Council (e.g., phone, email, etc.)
Regularly draft professional and persuasive communications on complex projects
Produce and distribute meeting materials for various District Council groups
Collaborate with Executive Director, Managers, ULI member leaders, sponsor firms, vendors, and consultants on a daily basis
Brainstorm program ideas with member leaders and staff
Administer and prepare events in online registration system
Coordinate event logistics including venue details, catering, etc.
Prepare event collateral and visuals
Administration and Finances
Manage project timelines to help keep everything and everyone on track
Manage Executive Director’s calendar
Maintain financial files and do basic bookkeeping tasks, including processing invoices and reimbursements
Perform other administrative duties and special projects
REQUIRED SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND AVAILABILITY
Professional oral and written communication skills, including exceptional spelling and grammar
Highly developed interpersonal skills for working with senior executives in the private and public sectors
Interest in real estate and land use, a passion for policy, and/or environmental sustainability and topics such as: building healthy places, leadership, smart growth, urban infill, full spectrum of housing
Strong time management and organizational skills
Strong computer skills, including advanced facility with or ability to learn Microsoft Office, Adobe products, and MagnetMail; typing 60+ wpm
Ability to attend early morning and evening events
Ability to lift 30 pounds for event preparation and set-up
Self-motivated: Ability to initiate tasks and assume responsibility, and to work with minimal supervision in a high production position
Detail-oriented: Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of work
Flexible: Adaptable to changing needs and comfortable with ambiguity
Creative: Ability to ask good questions and bring own ideas to projects with the team
Plays well with others: Outgoing, friendly personality
DESIRED TALENTS, EXPERIENCE, AND RESOURCES
Experience: 2-3 years of professional experience
Writing: Love of language, able to “write something that sings”
Graphics: Ability to produce professional collateral using Adobe InDesign or similar software program
Vehicle: Use of personal vehicle
