Job Title: Administrative Assistant for Education & Membership
Reports to: Director of Education and Director of Community Engagement
Hours: 40 hours/week, hourly, non-exempt. This position requires work on Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings during the school year. Fridays and Saturday are days off during this time.
Compensation: $19-21/hr, depending on experience. A generous benefits package includes health insurance, paid vacation, Federal holidays, Jewish holidays, sick and safe leave, and retirement options.

Position Summary: This position is an administrative support position, primarily supporting the Director of Education for responsibilities involving the temple’s Religious School (supplementary Jewish education for students in grades K-12). This position also supports the Director of Congregational Engagement with regard to membership tasks. This position performs a high volume of daily transactions that involve database utilization, data entry and analysis, all of which requires the ability to keep track of details in multiple systems at the same time. This position also provides excellent customer service for Religious School families and other temple members in person, via email, and over the phone. You do not need to be Jewish to apply!

An interest in working with a Jewish community is a plus, but we will train the right candidate who already possesses the basic core qualities. Temple Beth Am is a welcoming and dynamic Reform synagogue located in northeast Seattle. Our mission is to deepen relationships to Judaism and our community by engaging the soul, the heart, and the mind. Currently, we serve over 925 member families, 500 students through our Religious School, and 150 students through our Early Childhood School. Hundreds more join us each year for Shabbat and festival services, year-round programs, and other programs.

Essential Job Functions
The Administrative Assistant for Education & Membership will support our team in the following ways:
· Warmly welcome temple members and guests, in person and on the phone.
· Assist the operation of all aspects of our busy and vibrant Religious School with efficiency, accuracy, professionalism, and dedication.
· Coordinate all aspects of the temple’s B’nai Mitzvah program.
· Ensure that all steps are completed to enroll new members.
· Maintain the temple’s membership database, calendar and phone system.

The essential functions of this position will include, but are not limited to:
· Serving as receptionist in our main office.
· Providing clerical support (mailings/mail merges, data entry, proofreading, copying, filing, etc.)
· Preparing registration materials for our Religious School students (logging personal data, arranging for billing, and responding to requests for financial aid).
· Maintaining our database, particularly with respect to Religious School families and staff, as well as new members, with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Maintaining our annual calendar and phone system with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
· Coordinating volunteers, as well as supervising teen office volunteers on Sundays.
· Coordinating our B’nai Mitzvah program by scheduling appointments with the rabbis and cantor, advising families on processes, liaising with tutors, and providing materials for our clergy.
